Life has a way of creating circumstances that test and try us. Sometimes we respond with strong feelings of anger, anxiety or fear amongst others or can leave us feeling scared and trapped in the fall out from traumatic events. I have over 35 years of experience in supporting those who are struggling to cope with emotions or circumstances that life has thrown their way? Both as a Police Officer and a trained therapist.
Is the struggle to keep going dragging you down and sometimes overwhelming you? If so, counselling can help. I can provide you the safe space to explore the issues and feelings with somebody who really listens with empathy and without judgement. I can help you to explore your feelings and emotions to understand why they are so significant to you and bring some comfort, respite so you can regain control and turn your life in the direction you want.
I believe that in creating a safe environment for you to understand what you are struggling with and importantly why those struggles are causing you upset. I will be by your side helping you to safely explore and understand the root of the feelings and emotions that you are experiencing now and in doing so helping you take back control and move forward with your life.
I believe that every person is different and accordingly my practice is personally tailored to your needs, what you need at a pace that you are in control of. Always supporting and never leading. You can expect and will receive compassion, understanding and non-judgemental attentive support whilst you are navigating your way to a better way of being.
I am a qualified and experienced integrative therapist based in Wellington, Somerset. I offer face to face, virtual and phone counselling to adults according to their needs. I have years of experience of helping people cope with coming to terms with significant difficulties in their lives. I believe that good counselling takes some of the weight from the client and provides them some respite so they can take a breath, deepen their understanding and become stronger in order to take back control of their futures. A strong and trusting therapeutic relationship with your counsellor is the most important aspect of the therapy and is something I pride myself on being able to deliver for all my clients. I am a qualified REWIND therapist and can help those suffering from intrusive and traumatic flashbacks. I have completed further training in the Internal Family Systems (IFS) approach which is sometimes called Parts Work ad this influences my approach to therapy. I am a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP), fully insured and supervised. I DBS checked at the highest level and have been in practise in Somerset since 2018. Please feel free to contact me for an informal discussion about counselling and my approach, to see if this is the right “fit” for you.
